DALLAS – Dallas Market Center and ART have announced that the late John Feizy, founder and CEO of Feizy Rugs, will receive the Academy of Achievement honor at the 36th ARTS Awards.
The ARTS Awards, presented annually during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, celebrates preeminent manufacturers, retailers, interior designers, product designers, and sales representatives.
“John’s passion for his craft and his relentless pursuit of excellence set a standard for the home and design community,” said Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center. “He was a true innovator whose vision continues to inspire and whose legacy will endure for generations.”

John Feizy founded the rug company in Dallas in 1973, continuing a four-generation family tradition in rug buying and collecting. What began as a small retail store soon evolved into one of the most respected wholesale suppliers of fine hand-knotted and machine-made rugs in the United States, anchored by a flagship showroom in the Dallas Market Center and later joined by showrooms in High Point and Las Vegas.
“It’s an honor to present the Academy of Achievement to someone who not only built one of the most respected home décor companies in the world, but elevated the entire industry,” said Sharon David, ART executive director.
Under Feizy’s leadership, the company expanded its capabilities with in-house and international design teams, blending tradition and innovation to create distinctive collections. In 2000, Feizy broadened the company’s global footprint with the launch of a wholly owned manufacturing facility in Turkey — an achievement unmatched by any other American rug company, Feizy said. His vision, global perspective, and commitment to quality continues today under the leadership of his son, Cameron Feizy.
In addition to the Academy of Achievement, dozens of category awards will be presented at the ARTS Awards to retailers, manufacturers, designers and sales representatives. Reservations for the ARTS Awards taking place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas on Friday, January 9, 2026, will open on October 2. Tickets are $190 for ART members and $225 for non-members.
