SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Created in 2008 by a husband-and-wife team, the Darren Gygi Home Collection grew consistently until, in 2018, it was purchased by Sullivans, Inc. Now, after Sullivans announced it was looking for a buyer in June 2025, the husband-and-wife duo have purchased the brand back.
During the seven years under Sullivans’ ownership, the brand expanded its library of images, grew its national distribution, and developed new products utilizing the artwork images. Throughout that time, Darren Gygi remained closely involved in the evolution of the collection, collaborating with Sullivans’ product design team to develop new artwork and licensed products. When Sullivans announced in June 2025 that it was seeking a buyer for the artwork line, the Gygis recognized a rare opportunity to bring the brand back home—and they officially re-acquired the Darren Gygi Home Collection later that year.
Megan Gygi, who also worked as a marketing manager at Sullivans from 2018 to 2024, shared her thoughts about the re-acquisition: “One of the things we love most about the Darren Gygi Home Collection is the relationships we have developed with our customers. One drawback of being acquired by Sullivans was that we were more removed from our retail partners. Now that we have the DGHC back in our ownership, we can’t wait to reconnect with customers–both new and old.”
In late 2024, while under Sullivans’ ownership, the Darren Gygi Home Collection manufacturing process shifted overseas. Now that the Gygis have re-acquired the line, they are determined to return to their original vision.
“We are committed to creating and selling the artwork the way we always intended,” said Megan. “Every piece will be made to order right here in the United States. We are focused on supporting independent retailers by offering a high-quality, exclusive product that is never out of stock.”
For artist Darren Gygi, the re-acquisition marks a return to his creative roots. “Our time with Sullivans opened the door to incredible opportunities,” he shared. “We worked with talented people, and saw our artwork expand across many categories–from puzzles and ornaments to pillows and garden flags. And while we definitely enjoyed the ride, it’s great to have the art back with us, where it all began.”
