Annie Selke has introduced Le Souk, a new rug collection design that blends artisanal texture with modern ease, according to the company.
“Think soft hand-tufted piles, subtle geometrics and warm, versatile hues that layer effortlessly into both casual and elevated interiors,” said a company spokesperson.
- A mix of high-pile, geometric and bordered designs that add depth without overwhelming a room
- Handmade wool and wool blend constructions designed for everyday living
- A neutral-forward palette with just enough pattern to anchor living rooms, bedrooms, dining spaces and entryways

Standout styles include plush, graphic statements like Sativae, classic bordered designs such as Sivra and Sabrine, and modern geometrics like Orlina and Camelle, all unified by a lived-in, global sensibility. The collection is available now at annieselke.com.

Through a partnership with U.S.-based mill, American Dakota, native Navajo artist Mary Henderson Begay has given permission for one of her master weavings to be re-interpreted into a machine-made rug.
The company said this new interpretation now allows homeowners an affordable option called Blue Ribbon – multi, in honor of Begay’s original weaving that won a first-place ribbon for its fine detail and color. The company splits the profits they make 50/50 with which each Native artist they partner with. This partnership allows weavers who may live in remote areas to create streams of income.
Begay’s rugs are made on vertical looms using the same methods Southwest weavers have used for the past 300 years.
“We delight in writing checks to artists each month, it truly warms our hearts to know an artist can continue to make passive income from an original design that might have taken them six months to weave,” said American Dakota owner Mark Ford. “Through our partnerships artists make money long after the original rug is sold.”
Begay is the recipient of the Living Legend Award 2018 and the Arizona Governors Award. She worked for over 40 years at Hubbell Trading Post, National Historic Site in Ganado, Ariz., demonstrating Navajo weaving in the visitor’s center. She retired in 2005 and was commissioned by Gloria F. Ross Tapestries for several weavings designed by Kenneth Noland.
The new Blue Ribbon rug is available in seven sizes and can be purchased from any American Dakota dealer.

Begay’s daughter Gloria Fain, a weaver trained by her mother, has also partnered with American Dakota to debut three machine-made versions of her rug designs this spring.
“It’s exciting to see our weavings in another dynamic as these Navajo patterns are trending in pop culture such as fashion, tattoos, entertainment, arts and social media as the craft itself continues to evolve,” Fain said. “With such amazing roots, it is only necessary to continue my family legacy as I am armed with exceptional skills from two of the best instructors, my mother and grandmother, mentors of the Navajo

Nation.”
Fain has developed her own unique style in her weavings which are still of Navajo patterns, however, they are more contemporary and sometimes abstract.
“I’m fond of working with vegetable-dyed yarn as well as bright colors such as cochineal red and indigo blue,” she said. “My other favorites are prickly pear and pomegranate organic dye. I like to push traditional boundaries, however, always getting confirmation from the family for approval while staying within the limits of respecting myself and the Navajo culture and religion.”
