SAN FRANCISCO —Lighting and home décor retailer Lumens has appointed retail veteran Dave Nielsen CEO.
Nielsen replaces Cristina Miller, who had been interim CEO since March 2025, and reports Piero Gandini, executive chairman of the Flos B&B Italia Group, Lumens‘ parent company.
Nielsen, who was most recently president of Beyond, Inc., will apply his experience to Lumens’ marketplace model, Lumens said, and oversee the company’s growing North American presence.
In addition to Bed, Bath & Beyond, Nielsen has led teams at Overstock and Payless ShoeSource.
“Dave’s extensive background in ecommerce marketplace businesses makes him an exceptional fit as our CEO of Lumens, especially as we enter our next phase of scaling our business to become the preferred sourcing destination for design professionals and design aficionados,” said Gandini.

Lumens sells more than 400 luxury brands across the lighting and home furnishings categories, “large enough to serve the needs of the design professional and the design-obsessed customer alike,” Nielsen noted. The ecommerce company opened a brick-and-mortar design gallery in San Francisco, where it is headquartered, in September. It is the company’s first, and so far only, physical outpost.
