Light + Building, a global trade fair for lighting and building services technology, is set to take place in Frankfurt, Germany, early next month with the motto “Be Electrified – Electrifying Places. Illuminating Spaces.”, placing the two core areas of lighting and building technology center stage.
Electrifying Places refers to the continuous development and interconnection of urban spaces, and the need to electrify buildings efficiently and supply them with power in a sustainable way, said fair host Messe Frankfurt on the company’s website.
Illuminating Spaces focuses on the design aspects of lighting technology. Whether indoors or outdoors, lighting is more than a functional light source. It shapes the emotional experience of space in an immediate way.
The show takes place March 8-13, 2026 and highlights three themes:
Sustainable Transformation: Focus areas include energy management buildings, building energy efficiency, digitalization and sector coupling. It will also feature systems like EV charging infrastructure and digitally controlled tech.
Smart Connectivity: Buildings are becoming intelligent systems. Smart Connectivity stands for connected infrastructures, digital processes and efficient control throughout the building lifecycle. Thematic focuses include IoT building automation, AI building management, predictive maintenance buildings and digital access systems.
Living Light: This unites the architectural, technological and emotional aspects of lighting design with a strong focus on human-centric lighting.
