EXETER, ONT. — The latest long-term care home projects to break ground in Ontario are located in Exeter and Stratford.

Construction is underway to build the new 160-bed Southbridge Exeter long-term care home in Huron County.

The new facility will feature five 32-bed Resident Home Areas with dining areas, lounges, activity rooms and outdoor amenities. The home is designed to accommodate residents with various physical, emotional and cognitive challenges. It will offer 96 private rooms and 32 basic rooms and is expected to welcome its first residents in 2026.

Construction is also underway to redevelop peopleCare Stratford, a 288-bed long-term care home.

The home will also feature nine Resident Home Areas with living space for up to 32 residents. These areas include both standard and private resident rooms with access to dedicated balconies. The home’s amenities and services include a chapel, therapy rooms, outdoor paths, dining and activity lounges and a barber/salon.

peopleCare Stratford is anticipated for completion in 2027.

Both projects were recipients of the Construction Funding Subsidy top-up.
