BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Calico Wallpaper has teamed up with Athena Calderone, founder and principal of Studio Athena Calderone and the founder and CEO of EyeSwoon, to debut Calderone’s first collection of wallpaper, called Cadence.

Originally conceived for Calderone’s yet-to-be-revealed Tribeca apartment, Cadence draws inspiration from the subtle beauty and texture of natural hides. Calderone and Rachel Cope, creative director and co-founder of Calico Wallpaper, worked closely with a skilled French artisan and decorative painter to capture this nuanced character, the company said.
“Design, for me, is at its most powerful when it acknowledges history while nodding to the future,” said Calderone, who is known for her distinctive approach that spans both food and design. “The silhouettes, materials and gestures of earlier eras offer a language that, when reinterpreted — with the Cadence wallpaper — becomes the foundation for something entirely new. I love to view the modern world through this nostalgic lens.”
“I am endlessly inspired by Athena’s effortless mastery of color, texture, and materiality,” said Cope. “Everything she touches, whether an object or a space, radiates a soft, resonant elegance, and Cadence beautifully embodies the magic of her refined vision.”
Debuting at Calderone’s new atelier, the collection is available in six colorways – alabaster, fawn, jasper, oxblood, porcelain and tobacco.
