ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Nearly two years after suffering severe damage from , Bette Boutique is one step closer to fully reopening thanks to Heart on Main Street‘s .

The Asheville, N.C., retailer saw volunteers spring into action last week during a one-day project through Heart on Main Street. Volunteers helped clean up the landscaping and exterior of the building in the original Biltmore Village location, helping prepare the boutique for its eventual reopening.

“This project was about showing up for an independent retailer during a difficult chapter,” said Patrick Keiser, executive director of Heart on Main Street. “Even with unexpected delays, our volunteers were able to make a meaningful impact and remind Bette Boutique that this industry stands beside them as they continue rebuilding.”

The project was originally supposed to be a three-day project consisting of everything from fixture installation and landscaping to physically moving in product and assisting with merchandising. Due to delays in the construction process, only the exterior work could be completed at this time and a reopening date is not yet set.

In addition to the hands-on volunteer work, Heart on Main Street presented Bette Boutique with $5,000 in financial assistance and product donations to aid in the continued recovery efforts.

When the rebuild project was first announced back in February, Tara Hackett, owner of Bette Boutique, said returning to their original location “feels like coming home.”

“The support from Heart on Main Street and this community reminds us that small businesses are never rebuilding alone.”
