NEW YORK – Portuguese furnishings company Frato unveiled its 2026 collection during NYCxDesign last week with 35 debuts that embraced mixed materials and earthtones, inspired by the richness and diversity of modern cities, the company said.

Each with a metal detail as a nod to the company’s start in luxury jewelry, the collection includes items for the living and dining room, bedroom, closet and bathroom, in such materials as natural leathers, polished metals, marble, wood and lacquered finishes.
Its line is also fully customizable, “that’s standard for us,” said Carlos Faria Santos, executive chairman of Triva Group, which owns Frato, during its breakfast event during NYCxDesign. “We’re a dream for interior designers,” he said.
Frato is also vertical, another advantage in this climate of economic challenges, he said. “We produce 98% of what we sell.” Everything is made to order in Portugal, though some upholstery items are stocked in the U.S., added Qiana Gibson, the New York showroom’s design consultant.
New items include the Angra bed, a fluid silhouette inspired by islands in Rio de Janeiro; the curvy, armless Leblon sofa; the Macau shallow dressing table/console, which combines midcentury and modern elements; the Okinawa statement wall lamp and the sculptural Orvieto tall cabinet.

Frato’s concept is “quite global,” said Santos, and the company sells to 70 countries and has four other showrooms worldwide – two in London, and one each in Dubai and Doha. It plans to open its next showroom in Florida.

Santos considers the New York showroom, open for about three years, not just the U.S. flagship but the worldwide one. And he’s happy with the location on Park Avenue – an unexpected discovery after looking at 60 other properties. “It’s a long-term bet.”
