Launched in 1990, On-Site Power Generation: A Comprehensive Guide to On-Site Power, was initially produced by the Electrical Generating Systems Association for the US market.
The new sixth edition, written with AMPS and EUROPGEN aims to internationalise the guidance. “The On-Site Power Generation guide has been the go-to guide for our industry for over 30 years. Making it relevant to the UK and European market is something we have wanted to see for a long time, and we are delighted to have played a part in making that happen,” said Alan Beech, outgoing director general for AMPS.
“This is exactly the kind of initiative that AMPS exists to move forward. The intent is that this is a big step towards going global, beyond just the US and European markets, to include regions across Africa and the Middle East as well,” he added.
The updated edition globalises its coverage by including 50Hz and 60Hz systems, alonside European CE and US UL standards, along with local variances such as grid codes and planning regulations.
It includes the latest technologies including hybrid systems and micro-grids, and emerging fuels including HVO, biomethane, hydrogen, and synthetic fuels. The guidance is suitable for both experienced professionals and those entering the industry.
