NEW YORK —Hesperios, a concept brand founded by designer Autumn Hrubý, has launched a lighting collection and opened a store in New York’s West Village neighborhood.
Hesperios Lighting sprung from Hrubý’s return to school to study physics, which ultimately sparked her interest in lighting design. The collection is inspired by cultural totems and traditional paper lanterns, and has been executed by industrial designer Reid Hoyt.
The modular, sculptural lighting system is made from pleated paper, natural stone and LED ribbons. There are six modular shapes that can be customized as hanging pendants or table lamps. Herperios said it is also open to limited-edition artist collaborations; it can send engineered paper sheets to artists and then digitally fabricate them in-house.
The new store, a snug 450-square-foot jewel box of a space, is “warm, intentional and quietly transformative,” according to Hesperios. It brings together a curated blend of homewares, rare books, vintage finds, art objects, and Hrubý’s signature knitwear collection.
