PARIS – The next generation of industry designers will be front and center at the biannual Maison & Objet show this fall, Sept. 4-8.

Fair organizers of the event state that the next edition of Maison & Objet “will look firmly to the future, spotlighting a new generation of designers who are committed, daring and bringing a fresh perspective to design, lifestyle and responsible manufacturing.”

To support the goal, Maison & Objet will present three flagship programs: , and the , described as a “unique ecosystem in support of emerging talent” by officials.

The Rising Talent Awards celebrate the “German avant-garde,” said representatives, adding that functionality, and technological innovation are top of mind.

“The Rising Talent Awards at Maison & Objet is an amazing possibility for young designers to present their unique design philosophy to an international audience,” said Sebastian Herkner, a multidisciplinary designer who has created an array of products for global brands. “I can say from experience that these platforms are an important parameter for the career of creative people.”

Carsten Wiewiorra, an interior architect and president of BDIA, agrees.

“The Rising Talent Awards are characterized by their focus on the future of design,” Wiewiorra said. “The young talents use today’s possibilities of the digital age, such as AI and 3D printing, to cast their ideas into more sustainable forms.”

The following individuals will be part of the Rising Talent Awards program:

  • Friedrich Gerlach, exploring biotech and 3D-printed materials
  • Studio Œ, a Berlin-based duo known for their sensitive, experimental universe
  • Haus Otto, redefining sustainability through resource-sharing
  • Gerlach & Heilig, a narrative duo merging material and memory
  • Marie Luise Stein, an expert in modular and circular design
  • Moritz Walter, designer of simple and intuitive solutions
  • Gabriel Tarmassi, winner of the Rising Talent Craft Prize, for his organic wooden sculptures

The projects will be showcased in the Design District at the heart of the show, in partnership with Paris Design Week Factory.

Future on Stage (FOS) will become an annual event at this year’s show, and officials are celebrating the sixth edition of the program. For the 2025 fall edition, three companies will showcase innovations in a dedicated space for Maison’s “creative energy hub,” officials said.

The jury, including Vincent Grégoire (NellyRodi) and Florence Delage (Le Bon Marché), selected the following winning companies for Future on Stage: Drobe (Oslo), founded by Milla Lack; Yüssée (Paris), founded by Yuan Yuan and Cédric Guennoc; and Hilo (Monaco), founded by Adeline Michelotti.

With the two initiatives and the Factory Spaces, Maison & Objet reaffirms its role as a catalyst for the future of design and living spaces, officials noted, adding, “By putting the spotlight on young talent, innovative solutions, and sustainable commitment, the show goes beyond simply celebrating creativity and embraces emerging design as a key driver of transformation in the industry.
