Pindleer PFAS-free fabrics, from left Noir prints, Cabana Collection in pinks and blues
MOORPARK, CALIF. – Pindler has announced that as of this past January, every fabric in its line — performance, outdoor, prints and more — is now completely PFAS-free.
The California company said this achievement follows a multi-year effort to eliminate fluorocarbon-based finishes from every fabric category. Since 2022 it has worked closely with mill partners globally to transition fabrics in this category to C0 chemistry, eliminating polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as fluorocarbons.
These substances, commonly used to repel water and stains, have come under increasing scrutiny due to their long-lasting impact on human health and the environment during the production processes.
In late 2021, Pindler’s design team mandated that all new fabrics in the collection be produced using PFAS-free finishes. By the end of 2023, all mill partners had completed the conversion. As of January 2025, Pindler no longer stocks any C6-treated products.
The updated Fluorocarbon-Free Easy Clean and Fluorocarbon- Free Soil & Stain finishes offer the same high-performance durability, hand and color vibrancy as fabrics treated with fluorocarbons, the company said.
“We’ve made it a priority to source fabrics that are just as durable, cleanable and beautiful — without the environmental tradeoffs of traditional PFAS chemistry,” said Sarah Williamson, Pindler’s design director.
