NEW YORK – The Kips Bay Decorator Show House has secured the location of its landmark 50th anniversary showhouse in New York: A 9,000-square-foot townhouse in Greenwich Village.
This comes months after its original location fell through earlier this year.
Located at 20 West 12th Street, the townhouse is a six-level, brick-and-stone residence with 13-foot ceilings, seven wood-burning fireplaces, eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a private garden. Built in 1900, it retains much of its original architectural character, including an Otis elevator, Kips Bay said.
The showhouse is scheduled to open to the public for three weeks, starting Sept. 30.
“For 50 years, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House has brought together the most creative minds in design to support the vital mission of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club,” said James Druckman, president of the board of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. “We’re especially proud to mark our anniversary in the heart of Greenwich Village, at a location that perfectly reflects the grandeur and history of New York. It’s a powerful reminder of what our community can achieve together.”
Over the last five decades, the Kips Bay’s New York showhouse has featured more than 800 interior designers, Kips Bay said.
