NEW DELHI, India — Coast by DK, an Indian furniture manufacturer, will make its High Point Market debut this fall with more than 400 styles, including its first dining and occasional furniture collections.
The brand, which is opening a new 3,000-square-foot permanent showroom at 100B S. Main St., says the lineup will also include dining sets, accents pieces, occasional tables, accessories and entertainment units.
As part of the International Sourcing and Quality Assurance (ISQAA), Coast by DK —which currently ships products directly to retailers in container shipments —says it also has plans to open a new warehouse in the U.S.

“We have plans for a warehouse that will start at the next market,” said Vice President Rodney Tippit. “We have people here on the ground, there are reps from all over the United States selling the products, and eventually there will be a selling from the warehouse. But at first start it will be containers.”
Owner and CEO Dhiraj Kapoor echoed the plan, adding that the company’s High Point Market debut marks an important milestone for the brand.
“We want to double and expand at the next market in April, so for the first market we have 3,000 square feet, the next market we might have a 5,000-square-foot showroom,” Kapoor said. “But the warehouse we are looking at Atlanta and North Carolina, we are just trying to finalize the location and the size, but its going to be around 30,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet.”

Kapoor said its commitment to timely production, high quality, in-house testing and compliance with safety and packaging standards is what keeps Coast by DK competitive in the market. The company has contracted multiple factories in India that work for the brand.
“We have our ties and contracts with even the sawmills,” he said. “We have advantage of buying the wood at a very competitive price, and we are not sharing any costs with the middleman. The second advantage is that we are a brand-new company so our overhead is less compared with other suppliers and the vendors — a financially strong company at the same time our expenses are lean.”
In addition, Kapoor also stressed the importance of high-quality finishing on its products. “I as a designer am a master of the finishing-finishing plays a key role in any furniture. A table, for instance, may not look nice if it isn’t finished properly with the right stain, tone, pitch, the right kind of sheen.”
The CEO added that after the fall High Point Market, Coast by DK plans to source products from other Southeast Asia countries. He said it can offer retailers lower prices, up to 25%, which is cheaper than its competitors, allowing clients to pass on savings and provide better value in a challenging market environment.
For more than 30 years, Coast by DK has established its brand with clients such as Rooms To Go, American Furniture Warehouse and Hudson Furniture, among others. It says market attendees can expect a blend of traditional charm, contemporary lines and cutting-edge styles when visiting the showroom.
