BELLEVILLE — The Ontario government is awarding the City of Belleville $801,040 through the second round of the Building Faster Fund, which provides funding to municipalities that achieve at least 80 per cent of their designated housing targets.
Belleville broke ground on 250 new homes in 2024, achieving 97 per cent of its 2024 housing target, states a release.
The money will go towards building more homes and community infrastructure.
The provincial government is also investing nearly $21 million in the County of Hastings through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program to enable the construction of over 6,000 new homes. This includes more than $1.25 million for the City of Belleville.
Announced in August 2023, the Building Faster Fund is a three-year, $1.2 billion program that is designed to encourage municipalities to speed up approval processes and get more homes built faster.
