Fans of The Fray are clearing their calendars for the group’s High Point Market concert on Sunday at 7 p.m. on the Center Stage.
The Fray has earned four Grammy Award nominations, three Billboard Music Awards and multiple Billboard Top 10 hits. The group’s breakout single is “How To Save A Life.”
Meanwhile, although vintage rock band t-shirts (we’ll let you decide the definition of “vintage”) have always been popular, they do seem to be having a moment. According to a story in The Hollywood Reporter, some of those t-shirts in the back of your drawer could be worth an awful lot. But for many, they simply have sentimental value.
We asked around the industry to see who’s a fan of vintage rock band t-shirts and who their band of choice is. Here’s what they told us:

“Funny enough, yes — I own an AC/DC tee. To be honest, it’s not something I’d wear to a meeting, but it’s my go-to Sunday morning shirt when I’m at home relaxing.”

“I’ve got three, but given their condition, you don’t want to see me in them: Guns and Roses (my first concert ever, Boston Garden on St Patrick’s Day), Aerosmith, and Lulu The Giant (an amazing band from Savannah that we had play at market a few times. Rachel, lead singer, plays stand up base.)

“
Oh yes. I own a few. I’ve got shirts from the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Guns ‘N Roses and Def Leppard. My husband and I go to a lot of concerts. We attended three Springsteen shows when we went to Germany, Prague and Poland earlier this summer.”

“I no longer have any of these artifacts but loved the 80’s rock bands in concert….AC/DC’s debut of Back in Black was one of the most memorable concerts.”

“Sad to say, I live under a musical rock, and anyone who knows me would fall over dead if they ever saw me in a rock band t-shirt. That being said, the best concert I ever went to was Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden.”

“The first concert I attended was in St. Louis, Mo. when I was 17. My boyfriend at the time took me to see Deep Purple. I bought a t-shirt at the concert, but I have no idea where it is now.”

“Of course I do! Band tees are my thing. My favorite rock band tee is a vintage Nirvana one I got at a thrift store on the Lower East side of NYC!”

“I sometimes think half of my wardrobe is rock band tee shirts, vintage or otherwise. Favorites include Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Pink Floyd, and of course, Dave Matthews Band.”

“No vintage rock band tees, but I do have three Tom Petty Wildflowers-inspired versions.”

“I don’t own a rock band T-shirt. However, somewhere stashed away is a souvenir pin that I bought at a David Bowie concert.”

“My first concert in high school was Duran Duran, and I definitely got a t-shirt when I was there – but that’s long gone.”
