Heart on Main Street shares how it raised more than $15k for the retail community and how it will help small businesses across the country.

Heart on Main Street, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting independent retailers through disaster relief, education and hands-on rebuilding efforts, raised more than $15,000 to support small businesses across the country.

The money was raised through the organization’s GivingTuesday and Pink Friday campaigns.

Through GivingTuesday, Heart on Main Street raised $11,250 in donations. These contributions were strengthened by a dedicated group of match partners who helped extend the impact of every dollar donated, as well as brand-led giving initiatives that encouraged customers to give back through everyday purchases.

GivingTuesday match partners included Nora Fleming, The Savvy Shopkeeper, Warmies, Capital Commerce, IndERA, Stickers Northwest, Retail Mavens, Unemployed Philosophers Guild, IvyStone, JG2HI, Whizbang, Mary Meyer, Tag, Portico, Sincere Surroundings, Two’s Company, Dallas Market Center and Beatriz Ball.

In addition, Dr. Doug’s supported GivingTuesday by donating 20 percent of all retail purchases made on its website on GivingTuesday directly to Heart on Main Street, further expanding the reach and impact of the campaign.

Beyond GivingTuesday, Heart on Main Street was selected as the donation recipient for The Boutique Hub’s Pink Friday initiative, a nationwide movement encouraging consumers to shop small and support independent retailers ahead of Black Friday. Through The Boutique Hub’s Pink Friday sign-up campaign, nearly $3,800 was raised, with one dollar donated for every independent retailer that registered to participate.

Funds raised through both initiatives will directly support Heart on Main Street’s programs, including disaster-relief grants, educational resources, and hands-on rebuilding efforts for independent retailers impacted by natural disasters and economic hardship.

In January, Heart on Main Street will receive the HEARTS Award in recognition of how the organization has helped the retail community.
