NEW YORK — Classical glamour and early and mid-20th century designs resonated with consumers in 2025, according to the 1stDibs Luxury E-Commerce Report.

Shoppers on the online marketplace favored pieces from the and Art Deco movements, drawn to the rich fabrics, ornate finishes and bold colors that characterize those periods. Searches for “Art Nouveau” jumped 31% in the third quarter.

Art Deco, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025 saw spikes in demand for listings such as “Art Deco chandelier,” which placed in the Top 30 lighting searches. The top Art Deco sale of the year was an Albert Cheuret chandelier that sold for $65,323.

“Design movements from the early 1900s — namely Art Deco, which was officially launched by the famed Paris exposition of 1925, and Art Nouveau — have seen an uptick of interest from 1stDibs shoppers,” said Anthony Barzilay Freund, editorial director and director of fine art at 1stDibs.

Also trending, he said, were Tiffany lighting and old master-inspired paintings.

Lighting dominated the furniture category favorites, according to the report. Lighting by Fontana Arte was in demand, while pieces from Barovier & Toso and J.T. Kalmar become the fifth- and sixth-most purchased furniture and lighting creators in 2025. Searches for “Ingo Maurer pendant” were up nearly 2,000% in the first quarter.

Along with the Art Deco furnishings, modern brands such as Ralph Lauren, which feature historical references and a sense of legacy, proved popular as well. The report noted strong search activity for both “Ralph Lauren” and “Ralph Lauren furniture.” The fervor for a Ralph Lauren Christmas spiked searches for fireplace screens and sterling silver candlesticks in December.

Home furnishings also turned up in searches related to Western, Americana and indigenous craftsmanship. Navajo home designs experienced a surge, with searches for “Navajo rugs” up 39% in the first quarter of the year and up 32% for Q3. Equestrian motifs showed up in art-related queries. “Horse painting” was the fifth most popular painting-related term, while “Remington bronze sculpture” ranked in the Top 10 for sculptures.

Other furniture items in demand across the 1stDibs site included “stressless chairs,” which rose by 41% in Q1, and various table styles including “small drinks tables,” up 70% quarter-over-quarter in Q3, and “drafting tables,” which increased by double digits in Q1 and Q3. The re-release of an Ikea chair for the company’s 80th anniversary in October brought on interest in the archival Ikea Moment flatpack sofa, which saw search activity rise 56% in Q4.
