OTTAWA — Ottawa’s CHEO Integrated Treatment Centre marked a significant milestone recently with the raising of the final structural beam.
Once operational, the new 200,000-square-foot centre will deliver enhanced care to more than 13,700 children and youth with special needs and their families in eastern Ontario, states a release from the province.
The centre will be connected to the CHEO hospital by a tunnel and is expected to be operational in 2028.
Features include:
- Rehabilitation services and support therapies onsite, such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech‑language therapy and recreation therapy.
- Co-ordinated care for children and youth with multiple or complex special needs.
- Supports and co-ordinated care through the Extensive Needs Service, which connects families with a multidisciplinary team, such as doctors, social workers and behavioural consultants to provide tailored supports.
Ground was broken on the build in April 2025.
The multi-year project is being funded by the Ontario government and CHEO and is being built by EllisDon Infrastructure OCH Inc.
