The £2m investment by Southern Water focuses on reinforcing a section of the sewer network and lining an additional 430 metres of pipe. This section has experienced repeated failures in recent years, leading to disruption for local residents and businesses. The project will include relining more than 1,000 metres of pipe in total to improve the resilience and long term performance of the network.

Now in its final phase, the project involves additional lining works along Ashurst Bridge Road and Bull Copse Road, which will be completed over the next three weeks. Careful planning has been required to maintain wastewater services while sections of the network are temporarily taken offline, including the use of tanker operations to manage flows throughout the works.

H. E. Services supplied a Komatsu PC138 excavator for the work, from its Hungerford depot. Mark Chrisp, depot manager, said, “We are pleased to be supporting this important infrastructure project. Schemes of this nature demand reliable equipment and a high level of service. Our team worked closely with the contractor to ensure the Komatsu PC138 was delivered on time, and performs to the required standard throughout the project.”
