Skye Moda debuted at Interwoven earlier this week. Pegi Cladis, owner of the company, sat down with Home Accents Today to talk about the company.
Tell us about yourself, your background, and how it all led to where you are today.
“I have worked in textiles since moving to Los Angeles in 1992. I began my career with Fabricut, where I gained much of the knowledge and foundation that shaped my understanding of the industry. Over the years, I developed a deep appreciation for design, product development, and most importantly the relationships within the business. I also always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to create something of my own.”
Tell us about your previous role and what made you decide to create your own company.
“Throughout my career, I helped build and develop three different textile brands that are still successful today. Each experience taught me something new and gave me insight from incredibly talented ownership teams. Ultimately, I decided to start my own company for both personal and professional reasons. My son, Shep, was a huge inspiration. I wanted to show him the importance of carving your own path and never being afraid of change. Some of the hardest transitions in my life have also brought the greatest lessons and growth.”
What is the inspiration behind SKYE MODA and its name?
The name came from the idea that “the sky’s the limit.” One evening, my life partner Jim and I were talking about our future, our children, and all the things we hoped to build together while looking up at the sky. It felt optimistic, inspiring, and full of possibility, which perfectly reflects the spirit of SKYE MODA.
You’re debuting at Interwoven this week — what sets the company apart from others?
“One of the things that makes SKYE MODA unique is the collaborative approach. I am not good at a solid body cloth situation. I like pattern, color, texture over the top textiles. I work with several incredibly talented industry veterans, some of whom I have known since my Fabricut days in my twenties. I focus heavily on the business development side, sourcing, production, and bringing concepts to life, while allowing each designer to fully express their own creative vision. I deeply respect their individuality and unique perspectives on color, texture, and style. That blend of creativity and execution creates something very special.”
What are your goals for the company for 2026? What’s in the pipeline?
“I’ve realized that my true passion is supplying the residential furniture industry along with select jobbers and retail partners. Because of my sales agents I get to go meet these important decision makers. As a former road rep, taking care of the sales team is #1 priority to me. I genuinely value these relationships and believe meaningful partnerships matter the most. My goal is to continue building a strong, dependable company with thoughtfully developed textiles at mid to luxury pricing and keep it stock in NC. I use Infinity warehouse which has been amazing.”
What companies do you currently work with?
“We currently work with companies including Taylor King, Lexington Home Brands, Hickory Chair, Massoud, Lee Industries, Gabby, Design master, Vanguard, Theodore Alexander, Lafayette, and several online retailers.
