OTTAWA — mcCallumSather and Watson MacEwen Teramura Architects (WMTA) are formalizing a strategic partnership that intends to expand integrated design expertise, strengthen regional presence and create new opportunities for projects across Canada.

According to a release, over the years, mcCallumSather and WMTA have collaborated various across projects, developing an understanding of each other’s strengths and a shared approach to project delivery.

“Formalizing the relationship creates a stronger framework for collaboration moving forward and brings together complementary expertise across architecture, engineering, heritage, laboratory design and specialized technical services,” the release notes.

The partnership also strengthens both firms’ regional reach, including an expanded Ottawa presence.

“This partnership builds on years of collaboration and trust between our teams,” said Drew Hauser, director at mcCallumSather, in a statement. “Formalizing that relationship creates opportunities to learn from one another and better support increasingly complex projects while staying grounded in the relationships that got us here.”

WMTA brings experience in heritage architecture and laboratory design, while mcCallumSather contributes integrated architecture and engineering expertise along with sustainability measures.

“We’ve always seen strong alignment between our firms — in how we work, the value we place on relationships, and our commitment to thoughtful design,” said Allan Teramura and Rick MacEwen of WMTA. “This creates opportunities to build on those shared values while continuing to put clients and collaboration at the centre.”

Project teams and project delivery remain unchanged for both firms.
