OSHAWA, ONT. — Demolition is currently underway at the former Sears building at the Oshawa Centre, with the bulk of the building’s structure taken down.
According to various reports, owner Primaris REIT has no plans for the space that will be left once demolition is complete.
The Sears store was largely unused and closed in 2018. However, for a brief period of time beginning in 2024 the lower section of the store was used by SUSO Skate as a roller-skating venue.
The City of Oshawa has completed pre-emptive rezoning around the mall lands to allow potential future housing or other uses.
