Martha Stewart and Japanese design company Hachiman have teamed up on a special-edition collection of garden accessories in shades of green inspired by eggs from the hens at Stewart’s farm in Bedford, N.Y.
An outgrowth of Stewart’s ongoing collaboration with Chilewich, which introduced Hachiman to North America in 2025, the five-piece collection of buckets and watering cans transforms household objects that are typically hidden away when not in use into items that are a joy to live with.
A utilitarian bucket doubles as a lidded storage container, stool or side table. The multi-purpose bucket, which comes in three sizes and can support up to 330 pounds, was awarded Japan’s Long Life Design Award, which recognizes well-designed products that have been in active use for 10 years or more. An opening in the handle is designed to hold a garden hose for hands-free filling.
“The lidded buckets are exceptionally versatile,” said Stewart in a release. “They are ideal for all kinds of outdoor tasks and double as stools, side tables, coolers and compost bins. Use them indoors to store everything from children’s toys and treasures to pet food and crafting supplies.”
The Garden Beetle Watering Can, meanwhile, was awarded the Red Dot Design Award and Japan’s Good Design Award. Its innovative spout distributes water across channels in a waterfall-like flow. The smaller size (1.5 liter) nests inside the larger (5 liter) for easy storage.
“The watering cans have a grooved spout,” Stewart said, “so the water flows more like a sprinkler than a hose, and the open-top design makes it easier to incorporate plant food—no more clogged nozzles.”
What makes these products new is the use of two distinctive colors inspired by Stewart’s chickens, Olive Egger and Cream Legbar.
“My collection with Hachiman reimagines the family-owned Japanese company’s award-winning buckets and watering cans in fresh colors — shades of sage and olive inspired by eggs from chickens on my farm in Bedford. Everything is crafted in Japan to last a lifetime,” Stewart said.
The collection is sold on Chilewich.com, the Chilewich store in New York City and other select retailers.
