HIGH POINT — Case goods supplier BDI will open a new, approximately 7,000-square-foot showroom at during the fall High Point Market, scheduled for Oct. 17-21.

Located on the building’s fourth floor, the showroom represents an investment in supporting ‘s expanding product portfolio and providing a more functional resource for retailers, designers, media and other industry partners.

Liquid Design of Charlotte designed the space, which was built by Suburban Construction. Rather than presenting furniture primarily as individual pieces, the showroom will use complete living environments to demonstrate how products from across the BDI portfolio can work together in a home.

“This showroom represents the most complete physical expression of BDI we have ever created,” said Sol Garay, president of BDI. “It reflects where the company is today, the breadth of categories we now serve and the opportunities we see ahead.”

Garay said the space will provide a stronger platform for presenting the company’s full brand story and demonstrating how its combination of design and functionality can improve everyday living.

Reflecting a broader portfolio

The showroom reflects BDI’s continued growth beyond the media and office furniture categories for which the company has traditionally been known. Expanded presentations will highlight bedroom, dining, storage and occasional furniture alongside its established categories.

BDI said the space will also give it flexibility to accommodate future product introductions and educational events. The company plans to announce its fall market product launches separately.

Lighting, room settings, product displays and circulation patterns were designed to help visitors understand how the furniture functions within a complete home. The showroom’s features include natural light, warm oak details, polished concrete floors and dedicated presentation areas.

Meeting and hospitality spaces will also be available throughout market. The layout is intended to encourage visitors to explore the collections and examine the design and functional details incorporated into BDI products.

“Our retail partners were at the center of our thinking throughout the design process,” said Dave Adams, vice president of marketing at BDI. “We wanted to create an inspiring expression of the BDI brand, but also a practical resource that demonstrates how thoughtful merchandising and product presentation can create a stronger customer experience.”

Adams said BDI wants retailers to leave the showroom with merchandising and presentation ideas they can adapt for use in their own stores.

BDI will mark the showroom opening with a Market Preview Day event held with Trica Furniture on Oct. 16. Additional event details will be released closer to market.

Founded in 1984, BDI designs modern furniture incorporating engineered functionality, premium materials and contemporary styling for living, working and relaxation.
