Behr announced its Color of the Year for 2027 this morning: Grounded, a shade that sits between olive and moss and has brown undertones.
The paint company characterized the color as “a sophisticated, nature-inspired green that brings depth and balance to a wide range of environments,” including commercial, multifamily, hospitality and residential spaces. “Grounded is designed for versatility,” it added.
Behr offered some of its survey data to accompany its COTY choice: 77% of Americans say that when the outside world feels chaotic and unpredictable, they seek out a connection to nature to help them feel grounded. It also noted that 83% of American say they’re tired of “optimization culture,” which it said was the pressure to make their home and life perfectly efficient or Instagram-ready.
Grounded serves as the anchor for Behr’s 2027 color trends palette which is made up of nature-driven hues and includes seven colors from its vault that complement it: Coastal Beige, Wheat Grass, Environmental, Denim Light, Smokey Claret, Sarsaparilla and Mozart.
This is the 10th anniversary of Behr’s Color of the Year program, and in honor of that, the company said it is making a $250,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity to support affordable home ownership.
