As they buzzed through their busy days in New York, Will and Kerstin Meyer occasionally dreamed about what life would be like in a city with more space and less frenetic energy. Those dreams usually involved Nashville, because Mr. Meyer was born and raised there, and still had family in the city.
“The kids were getting to that age where if we were going to give them that experience, we needed to just do it,” said Mr. Meyer, 57, adding that the couple’s two children are now 17 and 21. But Mr. Meyer is a founding partner of Meyer Davis, an architecture and interior design firm headquartered in New York that conceives hotels for brands like Four Seasons, restaurants such as Bar Primi Penn District and private homes, as well as furniture and lighting. So moving out of the city always seemed out of the question.
But in 2019, Mr. Meyer’s sister called with news that had a major impact on their deliberations: a beautiful stone house in Nashville, designed by the architect Edwin Keeble in 1937, had been listed for sale. The Meyers had long admired the home, and when they saw it, they couldn’t pass it up. They bought the property for $2.35 million.
“The house made us decide to move to Nashville,” said Ms. Meyer, 55, who runs a Mexican textile company, Maya Sund.
