Remains Lighting, a Brooklyn-based artisanal lighting maker, and Los Angeles-based design studio Commune have introduced a wide range of designs for their 10th anniversary collection which includes new lighting and mirrors, as well as sculptural accessories, all handcrafted in Remains Lighting‘s Brooklyn factory.
Remains Lighting was founded in 1996 by David Calligeros to serve interior design and architecture clients with heirloom lighting fixtures and restored vintage pieces. The company said it has grown from an “off-the-beaten-path antique resource to a world-class maker of artisanal lighting.”
Commune, which is led by Roman Alonso and Steven Johanknecht, works on residential, commercial and hospitality projects and has a holistic approach to architecture, interior, graphic and product design.
The two companies have worked together for the past decade.

From the sconces to the accessories, the new anniversary collection fits a need in Commune’s projects, answering both a practical and aesthetic need, the two companies said.
“Our long-standing relationship with Commune is certainly one rooted in mutual respect for good design, and these new designs will be celebrated by our clients,” said Calligeros.
The new Cylinder lantern collection is a series of lighting fixtures inspired by Japanese and Spanish design traditions. Each piece pairs custom blown glass with finely crafted brass. There are both indoor and outdoor options. The Linear sconce collection is a trio of wall sconces with a brass mesh scrim reminiscent of woven cloth. The Origami collection is inspired by traditional origami. The collection is made from solid brass and includes a flush mount, sconce and faceted wastebin. New Halo mirrors float slightly off a brass frame; four exposed brass disc finials on the glass anchor the design and add an industrial mechanical element. There is an unlit version and a backlit Halo, which integrates LED backlighting.

The collection launches Aug. 26 at Remains Lighting showrooms and on its website.
