Grant Sanderson

Sanderson has built his career with Donaldson Timber Systems over the last decade. He joined as a structural engineer in 2015, before being promoted to engineering manager in 2020. During this time, he has, the company says, consistently raised technical standards, strengthened pre-construction and engineering processes, and supported colleagues by sharing knowledge and developing others.

With a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Napier University and close to 20 years of experience, Sanderson began his career at a structural engineering consultancy in Edinburgh, where he found a niche in timber frame engineering. Prior to joining Donaldson Timber Systems, Sanderson also spent three years in the offshore oil and gas industry, providing site and desk-based engineering support for the fabrication of offshore oil production jackets, topsides and wind farms.

In this newly created role, Sanderson is responsible for leading the full technical function for Donaldson Timber Systems across the UK, including technical coordination, engineering, design development and project governance from tender to delivery.

John Smith, technical director at Donaldson Timber Systems said, “Grant brings deep technical expertise, credibility and insight to this new role. His passion for continuous improvement, innovation and the effective use of technology came through strongly during the interview process and will be key as we continue to evolve our technical capability.

“His forward-thinking approach puts him in an excellent position to lead the technical team and support the delivery of high-quality, compliant and customer-focused solutions. This is a well-deserved promotion and a strong example of our commitment to developing talent from within the business as we plan for the future. Congratulations, Grant!”

With over 50 years of offsite timber frame expertise, Donaldson Timber Systems offers experience and knowledge in offsite construction, operating from a network of manufacturing and technical centres across the UK.
