As the only city-owned and operated water park, Kidstown is located in the heart of Scarborough and kids and families have enjoyed summer fun there since it first opened in 1988.
The revitalized park includes a new outdoor pool with two new water slides; a wading pool with accessible ramp; added shade structures; poolside lounge seating and picnic tables; cognitive play areas; and a brand new and expanded building with washrooms and changing rooms.
There are also large and age-appropriate splash pads along with Indigenous placekeeping features such as clan animal sculptures, clan-and-pattern shade structures, a sunflower graphic, a beaver paving motif, custom arrowhead graphic fence panels, a waterfall and signage designs.
The design elements were inspired by the history and traditions of the Huron-Wendat community, created by artist Catherine Tammaro, a release reads.
