MONROE, Mich. — While she’s best known for turning sports jerseys into custom fashion statements, is turning her attention to recliners.

Juszczyk, founder of fashion label Off Season and wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, is partnering with furniture manufacturer and Top 100 retailer La-Z-Boy for one-of-a-kind, personalized “Jer-Z-Boy” recliners for three winning fans.

Fans can enter the sweepstakes online at TheJerZBoy.com or at participating La-Z-Boy stores. Shoppers who scan a QR code in stores will receive five additional entries. The entry period closes at 11:59 p.m. ET, Sept. 14.

“It was amazing to partner with La-Z-Boy to think about how we can establish what seating and furniture looks like in a fan cave,” Juszczyk told Furniture Today. “It’s been fun to broaden my design skills into home furnishings.”

While apparel design and furniture design are different, Juszczyk said she approaches both similarly.

“It’s taking something and redesigning it in a different light. I love combining different textures. We did that with this recliner,” she said. “We worked with perforated leather, smooth leather, raised stitching. The nameplate and number are raised. It feels sporty, but there are different elements to make it feel elevated as well.”

Rob Sundy, president of retail for La-Z-Boy, said it made a lot of sense to pursue the partnership.

“(Kristin) exemplifies the joy of modern fandom. While she is married to an NFL player, the way she participates in football culture is more relatable to the average fan,” Sundy said. “Just look at the way she has elevated fan apparel through her fashion label, . The partnership reflects the same co-creation philosophy that exists in our La-Z-Boy stores every day through our complimentary Design Service, which brings together an individual’s vision and our design expertise to create something uniquely personal.”

Sundy said with football season around the corner, the promotion was built to create excitement for Labor Day and design.

“The goal of the campaign is to heighten awareness for the La-Z-Boy Labor Day sales promotion and complimentary Design Service, as well as increase in-store and online traffic,” he said. “We also want to reinforce how La-Z-Boy furniture enhances at-home viewing occasions, something tens of millions of football fans observe each week throughout the season.”

Juszczyk said her experience working with La-Z-Boy has been everything she hoped it would be, and she threw a few nods to the company’s history in the initial design.

“They’ve been incredible. They’ve been so collaborative. They brought my design to life in such an incredible way,” she said. “From the renders to the actual chair, it was to a T. They’re an incredible brand. The 27 on the chair represents the 1927 when they were founded. A company that’s been around 100 years is doing something right.”
