Also within walking distance are shops selling books and records. The Los Angeles River is a few blocks away and Griffith Park & Southern Railroad, where reproductions of old trains circle a mile-long track, is a five-minute drive.

Driving to Dodger Stadium takes less than 15 minutes. Downtown Los Angeles is a 20-minute drive, as is Burbank Airport.

Indoors: From the street, a wood gate set in tall hedges opens to a private courtyard.

Inside, the living room has coved ceilings and a fireplace surrounded by green Raku-glazed tiles. Three arched windows face leafy trees, and hardwood floors continue into the dining area with a built-in banquette and a set of doors with large panes of glass open to the front courtyard.

An updated kitchen is on the other side of the dining area. Its wood cabinets are custom-made and a white porcelain farmhouse-style sink with brass hardware sits beneath another arched window. A laundry room with a beadboard wall is off the kitchen.

The primary suite is at the end of a hallway extending from the dining area. It has deep burgundy walls and the bathroom has a shower and a separate claw foot soaking tub. Both the primary bedroom and another bedroom off the hall have access to a back patio. The third bedroom, next door to the primary suite, has mossy green-colored walls and a built-in day bed.
