The Soucie Horner Design Collective, an international lifestyle brand, has debuted its SHIIR Rugs‘ Innovation Collection for Spring 2025.
“At SHIIR, we approach rug design with a designer’s eye – balancing form, function and feeling in every piece,” said Shea Soucie, co-founder of SHIIR Rugs and principal of the Soucie Horner Design Collective. “The Innovation Collection is a curated collection that demonstrates how beautiful design can also be functional, offering unique customization options that adapt to a variety of project needs. Each rug is thoughtfully composed – rich in texture, character and craft.”
The collection is designed to streamline the customization process for designers, offering visual flexibility, material variety, and solutions tailored to multiple applications and use cases.
All eight new styles are available in a range of standard constructions and fibers – including hand-knotted, hand-tufted, hand-loomed and flatweave techniques – alongside materials such as cashmere, silk, wool, nylon and sustainable PET.
SHIIR Rugs represents a collaboration between Soucie Horner Design Collective and third-generation rug purveyors Oscar Tatosian and Sarkis Tatosian, owners of Oscar Isberian Rugs.
The Innovation Collection
- Laris– Laris pairs architectural structure with shifting light, balancing crisp geometry and subtle color variation, so no two rows ever feel the same.

- Skinner– Drawn from dance photography, Skinner captures motion in stillness—like a ballerina mid-pirouette, chiffon trailing behind. Its rippling pattern evokes sound waves, smoke and energy—a tactile dance, frozen in time.

- Sorin– With an open field that invites interpretation, Sorin offers a versatile canvas framed by a richly textured border inspired by reed mats, handwoven baskets and interlaced leather. The contrast between openness and structure gives it a feeling that’s both expansive and beautifully refined.

- Aiko– Inspired by birch bark and slender branches, Aiko blends flowing patterns with four unique textures: checkerboard, subtle stripe, single-knot check and irregular band.

- Rivvi– Inspired by handwoven textiles of the Atlas Mountains, Rivvi’s Tulu weave alternates plush pile with flatwoven rows, echoing Sahara ridges. Hand-clipped for definition, it’s lightweight yet dimensional.

- Esha– Esha reflects the bold geometry and rich hues of traditional tribal rugs. Both durable and versatile, it’s well-suited for commercial spaces, blending heritage with everyday performance.

- Gruen– Drawing from the vibrant terrain of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, Gruen’s pattern echoes the region’s flowing contours and rich textures. Woven on a traditional pit loom, this age-old technique ties land, culture and craft together, bringing warmth and soulful character to any space.

- Luma– Luma’s staggered stripes shift in rhythm. Rooted in Bauhaus ideals, it blends modern design with Indian craftsmanship, where color, culture and collaboration come together in every weave.

Swedish design brand Layered is offering two new rug collections for spring – The Sicilian and Scallop Jute.

The rugs are crafted from jute, a fast-growing, biodegradable plant fiber known for its durability and earthy texture.
“Much like wood, jute brings warmth and a relaxed atmosphere to any space, making it a natural fit for dining areas, living rooms, lounges and outdoor settings,” according to the company.

With Scallop Jute, the company blends playful design with a sense of Italian elegance. The rug features a soft, scalloped edge that adds a subtle twist to the classic jute weave. To achieve the fluid shape, the jute is braided and coiled into circular forms, then finished with a refined accent border available in burgundy, dark green or misty blue.
The Sicilian Jute draws inspiration from checkerboard ceramic floors found in grand Italian villas and palazzos. The design pairs bold, graphic patterns with traditional craftsmanship. The collection is offered in three citrus-inspired colorways: soft yellow daffodil, vibrant green clover and natural.
“We’re seeing a growing demand for natural materials and conscious choices in interior design,” said Malin Glemme, founder and creative director of Layered. “Jute is not only durable and biodegradable. It also brings a grounded, warm feeling to the home. With The Sicilian and Scallop Jute, we wanted to merge organic textures with bold, graphic forms and always with a Layered twist.”
