BOSTON — Wayfair has updated its app, adding two features that allow users to discover and search for products beyond what is traditionally presented in the online catalog.
“At Wayfair, we’re always looking for ways to remove friction and bring more joy to the shopping journey,” said Aanan Contractor, vice president of customer technology. “Whether you’re snapping a photo to find a product or browsing curated imagery in Discover to find inspiration, these innovations are designed to simplify the journey and bring your home vision to life, seamlessly and intuitively.”
The new Discover tab gives shoppers a curated, shoppable presentation of AI-generated imagery. This feature, according to Wayfair, goes beyond its transactional platform to a personalized gallery tailored to the individual’s style. Each image acts as a launchpad for engagement.

By tapping an image, users will land on a detail page where they can browse product carousels with visually similar images. These images are powered by Wayfair’s advanced AI visual search technology.
Beneath the shopping carousels, there will be an expanded gallery of similar AI-generated images, which encourages consumers to explore additional ideas and discover new styles.
Also new is the Image Search feature, which offers two avenues for exploration. Using the search bar, users can snap a photo or upload one from a camera roll and the technology will return up to 30 visually similar images at Wayfair. Additionally, on selected product detail pages, a “find similar looks” option will appear with the product listing card, enabling customers to perform an image-based search for similar items from Wayfair.
The goal of the new features is to engage consumers earlier in their shopping journey, allowing them to find inspiration across Wayfair’s broad selection of products.
