RICHMOND HILL — Construction is underway to build Carefirst Campus of Care York Region, a 124-bed new long-term care home in Richmond Hill.
The project is a recipient of the new Capital Funding Program (CFP).
“Our government is fixing long-term care by getting shovels in the ground and ensuring residents can get care where and when they need it,” said Dawn Gallagher Murphy, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Long-Term Care. “Today’s announcement is great news for Richmond Hill and will ensure that 124 people will get the care they need in modern, safe homes.”
The Carefirst Campus of Care York Region project is a not-for-profit home that will have a medical centre on the ground level and be part of a campus of care to provide convenient access to health care services for residents. The home’s amenities will include a café-tuck shop, hair salon, chapel, secure outdoor garden and paths.
The home’s design includes larger resident common areas and air conditioning throughout. The design is centred around four ‘Resident Home Areas’, each of which creates a more intimate and familiar living space for up to 31 residents, with dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms. Carefirst Campus of Care York Region is expected to welcome its first residents in 2027.
This project is part of the Ontario government’s continued progress toward its commitment to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province.
