Traditional furniture stores, the biggest channel of distribution for the category, suffered one of the biggest sales declines with an estimated 1.8% decrease. The e-commerce channel, on the other hand, saw sales grow slightly, with an estimated 1.3% increase. The results were in line with the overall softness in the furniture market.

Total home accents sales across seven categories will rise to an estimated $86.1 billion this year, up 1.2% over 2024’s $85.06 billion mark, according to the recently published 2025 Universe Report, HAT’s annual state-of-the-industry report. More information about that report can be found here.

The accent furniture category includes small to mid-sized pieces of furniture ranging from accent chairs to occasional tables to bookcases.
