HAMILTON, ONT. — Construction is underway on a new wing of the Macassa Lodge long-term care home in Hamilton, adding 64 beds to the community.

The expansion will add 20 new beds and 44 upgraded beds, creating a 290-bed long-term care home.

The new addition is designed around two “resident home areas,” which create a more intimate and familiar living space for up to 32 residents with their own dining and activity areas, lounges and bedrooms, explains a release.

The home features physiotherapy and occupational therapy spaces, recreation activities, worship and family dining and offers behaviour management and dementia care programs.

Macassa Lodge is expected to welcome first residents to the new wing in late 2026.

This project is a recipient of the construction funding subsidy top-up.
