
ANDOVER, Mass. — Herb Kahan, founder and CEO of Regal Fabrics, died Dec. 2 at the age of 91. With nearly 70 years in the fabric business, Kahan was known for his infectious energy and passion, his smile and his ability to talk about anything with anyone.
Kahan was born Feb. 1, 1934. Soon after serving in the Army, Kahan met and married his wife of 60 years, Arlen. After more than 30 years of learning the fabric business from the ground up, Herb and Arlene Kahan started their own upholstery fabric convertor, Regal Fabrics, in 1987 and were soon joined by son Steven and daughter Ronda, who continue to run the business along with their grandsons Scott and Andy.
Kahan was predeceased by his wife, Arlene. He is survived by his two children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Temple Emanuel, 7 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover, Mass., at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Peabody, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Care Dimensions, Temple Emanuel and Congregation Ahavas Achim.
