WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Online furniture and home furnishings marketplace Shop Houzz is winding down operations and will formally close later this month, according to a notice sent to vendors.
In an email dated May 7, the company informed vendors that Shop Houzz would “formally clos(e) the business effective May 22,” while outlining deadlines for order fulfillment, refunds and final payouts. According to the company, the site stopped accepting new orders effective May 7 at 10 a.m. PT.
“All orders placed on or before May 7 must be fulfilled and marked as shipped by Friday, May 15,” the company wrote in the notice. “Any orders not shipped by May 15 will be automatically canceled and fully refunded to the customer.”
According to the notice, customers will have until May 15 to submit return or refund requests under the company’s standard return policy. Vendor payouts will continue on the normal remittance schedule through May 22, with any remaining final disbursements scheduled for June 30. Vendors were also instructed to export order histories and account records from the vendor portal before May 22, after which the data will be archived and no longer directly accessible.
Shop Houzz operated as an online marketplace for home products tied to the broader Houzz ecosystem. In August 2025, the marketplace operation appears to have been separated from Houzz and operated independently under the Shop Houzz name by Cart.com Holdings 2 LLC.
Houzz itself remains active as a home renovation, design inspiration and software platform serving residential designers, remodelers and contractors through its Houzz Pro software suite.
The current Shop Houzz website states that “purchasing is no longer available” and notes that “Shop Houzz operates independently and has no affiliation with Houzz.com or Houzz Pro.”
Houzz originally launched in 2009 as an online home renovation and design platform founded by Adi Tatarko and Alon Cohen before expanding into e-commerce and product sales during the 2010s. The company later developed a range of software and visualization tools for home furnishings retailers, designers and contractors, including 3D visualization, project management and marketing solutions.
The shutdown appears to mark the end of Shop Houzz’s direct marketplace operations as Houzz continues concentrating on technology and software offerings for the home and design trade.
