Miami-based Roberta Schilling is a Brazilian-born designer and curator known for a furniture line that blends contemporary, clean-lined design with warm, organic materials and, often, Brazilian colonial antiques.

Shown on our cover, Modern Tension, which debuted this market, combines contemporary furniture and objects. It features a curated mix of contemporary furniture and decorative objects that balance clean, architectural lines with organic, sculptural elements.

“The contrast between structured black-and-white artworks and fluid, tactile pieces creates a space that feels both refined and sensorial, modern, yet deeply inviting and subtly sexy,” said founder Roberta Schilling.

Who is the customer you envision buying this?
The ideal customer is design-conscious, confident and globally inspired. She embodies an urban-chic sensibility, with a lifestyle reminiscent of New York or Chicago, cosmopolitan, dynamic and culturally attuned. She appreciates timeless aesthetics but seeks pieces with personality and edge. Likely a collector at heart, she values quality, craftsmanship and the emotional impact of her space. She is drawn to interiors that reflect sophistication, individuality and a curated lifestyle.

What is the inspiration behind this introduction?
The inspiration comes from the interplay between opposites, structure and fluidity, minimalism and expression, black and white versus bold, organic tones. The straight lines of the artwork evoke discipline and order, while the organic shapes and textures introduce movement, warmth and sensuality. This contrast creates visual tension, which is what makes the composition feel alive and modern.

How does this fit into your overall brand strategy?
This direction reinforces our commitment to creating spaces that are both timeless and emotionally engaging. Black and white serve as a classic foundation, while the introduction of richer tones and organic forms adds depth and a contemporary edge. It reflects our brand’s signature approach: balancing elegance with boldness, and structure with softness, always aiming to create environments that feel curated, distinctive and effortlessly sophisticated.
