SEATTLE — Amazon continued its positive earnings streak in the aided by growth across all sectors, ranging from stores and AWS to advertising and chips.

The company posted a 17% net sales increase for the quarter ended March 31, reaching $181.5 billion, up from $155.7 billion in the same quarter in 2025. Excluding a favorable impact of $2.9 billion from changes in exchange rates, net sales were up 15% year-over-year.

The company’s North America segment was up 12% to $104.1 billion, while international rose 19% to $39.8 billion. AWS sales grew by 28%, rising to $37.6 billion year-over-year.

Operating income for the quarter was $23.9 billion compared with $18.4 billion in Q1 2025. North America accounted for $8.3 billion, international $1.4 billion and AWS, $14.2 billion. Net income for the quarter rose to $30.3 billion, or $2.78 per diluted share.

The company’s operating cashflow increased 30% to $148.5 billion for the trailing 12 months, while free cashflow decreased to $1.2 billion driven by a year-over-year increase of $59.3 billion in purchases of property and equipment, net of proceeds from sales and incentives.

“We’re making customers’ lives easier and better every day across all our businesses and their response is driving significant growth,” said Andy Jassy, president and CEO. He cited the double-digit growth of AWS, a $20 billion revenue run rate for its chips business and unit growth in stores that reached 15%. Advertising also grew to more than $70 billion of trailing 12-month revenue.

“We’re in the middle of some of the biggest inflections in our lifetime, we’re well-positioned to lead, and I’m very optimistic about what’s ahead for our customers and Amazon,” Jassy said.

Second quarter guidance puts net sales in the $194 billion to $199 billion range, or growth between 16% and 19% vs. Q2 2025. Operating income is expected to be between $20 billion and $24 billion. The guidance is based on Prime Day occurring in the second quarter.

Prime Day is expected to take place in most countries in June. The annual shopping event offers deals across more than 35 categories, including furniture and household goods.
