HIGH POINT — Family-owned luxury furniture manufacturer Theodore Alexander is celebrating its 30th year, and marking the milestone with set for the fall High Point Market.

Founded in 1996 by antiques dealer Paul Maitland-Smith, began creating luxury furniture with original design and craftsmanship. The company became one of the first in the industry to manufacture in company-owned facilities in Vietnam, offering woodworking, hand carving, hand painting and the use of diverse wood species.

Throughout its 30-year history, Theodore Alexander has developed partnerships to offer collections with Alexa Hampton, Judith Leiber and its longest-running collaborator, Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, launched in 2006.

Most recently, Theodore Alexander has invested significantly in U.S.-based expansion. In 2024, it purchased a 200,000-square-foot headquarters facility in Trinity, N.C., to bring its operations, customer service, U.S.-based upholstery manufacturing, warehouse and distribution services under one roof.

In 2025, the company purchased a freestanding High Point showroom on Hamilton Street in the High Point design district, opening the showroom later that year. Also last year, it opened its first retail-friendly showroom and design center in the Long Island suburb of Manhasset, N.Y.
