READING, Pa. – The Boscov’s Department Store company is moving to modernize its omnichannel operation.
The retailer has entered a partnership with Manhattan Associates Inc. to build a more connected, data-driven supply chain. The goal is to reduce out-of-stocks, keep inventory closer to customers and deliver a smoother omnichannel experience.
Key aspects of the project include:
- Manhattan’s ActiveOrder platform will unify inventory visibility across all of the retailer’s 51 stores.
- The platform combines order management, store fulfillment, and customer service on a single cloud-native system to improve throughput and inventory accuracy in stores.
- This will enable flexible fulfillment options like ship-from-store and buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS).
- Cloud-based deployment can provide automatic quarterly updates, keeping capabilities current.
- The system should deliver better labor/capacity utilization in stores and simplified IT complexity.
“Boscov’s has always been differentiated on value, assortment and service. Partnering with Manhattan allows us to extend that promise into our receiving, fulfillment and customer service operations,” said Jim Boscov, chairman and CEO at Boscov’s.
Family-owned Boscov’s traces its roots to 1914, when Solomon Boscov immigrated to the United States and began selling household goods. The company now operates department stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Ohio, West Virginia and Rhode Island.
“Boscov’s has a proud history of really knowing their customers and communities. To keep delivering on that promise, they need a platform that is just as responsive, efficient and customer-centric,” said Bob Howell, executive vice president and chief sales officer at Manhattan Associates.
