The big news in lighting this week was the debut of Atlas Lighting and Home, which is being headed by former Elk CEO Todd Webb.

As previously reported, Kalco and Crystorama each have design events planned. Hudson Valley Lighting Group will launch collections in its Hudson Valley Lighting, Corbett and Troy brands in collaboration with designers; those plans are being kept under wraps until market. It will also highlight the Sonneman brand, which it acquired earlier this year. It is hosting a “Legacy of Light” party on Saturday. Oct. 26, from 9 – 11:30 a.m. with a DJ, brunch bites and watercolor portraits (Market Square, M-70, M-90, M-97, M-99)

will unveil a new assortment that underscores its globally inspired vision rooted in natural textures and craftsmanship. And although it is expanding beyond its well-established lighting and mirror categories into larger furniture pieces, there are several new lighting pieces to consider as well.

“We’re expanding in so many categories, but we’ve made sure that classic JYC patterns made a return on table lamps, and new resin petal chandeliers carry that same sense of motion we love,” said Jamie Young. “Our October collection is all tied together with an elevated, understated elegance that runs through everything we do.”

will feature many new in High Point that blend cutting-edge technology with bold design and great materials. Introductions include Carve (natural wood, 60 and 72-inch sizes, various housings and blade colors, damp-rated); Pisces (alabaster finish, three-blade configuration, a 54-inch sweep and a quiet DC motor); and Smooth (minimalist design with a 52-inch sweep in multiple finishes with either silver or matte-black blades). All three have smart features and can be integrated with voice-controlled devices.

American Lighting is introducing the Rein Low-Voltage Wall Grazer. The Rein is a low power consumption, rigid linear LED fixture that optimizes the metrics of a performance luminaire. It features two size options and color-changing ability.

Sean Lavin, chief design officer for Visual Comfort, will visit Elements Lighting + Décor in Carle Place, N.Y., this evening to discuss his latest collections and the story behind his designs.
