HUNTSVILLE, ONT. — Utility crews are working to restore power to thousands of Ontario customers after powerful thunderstorms downed trees and prompted tornado warnings.
Hydro One says about 2,700 customers are without power as of 8:30 a.m. in southwestern Ontario after last night’s storm.
Another 3,000 customers were also in the dark in central Ontario, the focus of a powerful Monday storm.
Storm researchers are in the areas of London and Huntsville to investigate reports of tornadoes and high winds after consecutive days of severe storms.
The Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University say no tornadoes have yet been confirmed.
Police in Huntsville say a 19-year-old died after he was struck by a falling tree during that storm.
