With a provincial government investment of $202 million, the new hospital will add space for more than 100 additional hospital beds and will bring expanded acute care services together under one roof within a two-million square foot facility.
EllisDon was named the construction manager to oversee enabling works construction last August.
Once completed, the new hospital feature:
- More space bringing the total beds to nearly 600
- A new 24/7 emergency department
- World-class cancer care
- Complex trauma support
- Maternal and newborn care
- Surgical services and critical care
- Neurology and cardiology services
More single-patient rooms to increase patient privacy and prevent the spread of infection.
