HIGH POINT— As it prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary later this year, the Sustainable Furnishings Council is also marking another milestone with the launch of the 2026 Wood Furniture Scorecard, the industry benchmarking tool now administered by global sustainability nonprofit Cascale.
Scoring for the 2026 edition began last week, according to SFC Executive Director Scarlette Tapp, who highlighted the initiative as evidence of the organization’s continuing impact on responsible wood sourcing across the home furnishings industry.
Now in its ninth year, the Wood Furniture Scorecard was developed by the Sustainable Furnishings Council and the National Wildlife Federation to help furniture companies evaluate their wood sourcing practices, identify opportunities for improvement and demonstrate sustainability leadership.

The scorecard launch comes as SFC reflects on its own history. Founded in October 2006 during High Point Market, the organization was created by a group of industry leaders who believed the furnishings sector should take greater responsibility for its environmental impact.
This fall, SFC plans to commemorate its 20th anniversary at High Point Market, bringing together founders, members, designers and industry partners who helped shape what has become one of the furnishings industry’s leading sustainability organizations.
The SFC also highlighted its continued involvement with the International Society of Furniture Designers’ Green Leaf Award program. Angie Kenny, representing SFC, will again serve on the judging panel for the award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in sustainable furniture design, honoring designers who successfully combine innovation, aesthetics and responsible materials and manufacturing practices. The winner will be announced during the ISFD Pinnacle Awards at the fall High Point Market.
The anniversary celebration also comes during a period of transition. Last year, Cascale acquired key assets of SFC as part of a strategy to expand sustainability resources and collaboration opportunities for furniture companies while preserving SFC’s mission and programs. Under the agreement, Cascale assumed responsibility for initiatives including the Wood Furniture Scorecard and other sustainability education and assessment tools.
SFC has said it expects to complete its transition into Cascale later this year.
