MOUNT FOREST, ONT. — Reilly’s Roofing Ltd., a roofing contractor based in Georgian Bluffs, Ont., and Adam Reilly, director and officer of the company, have been fined in relation to a workplace injury that happened in 2023.

According to an Ontario court bulletin, on Dec. 22, 2023, workers employed by Reilly’s Roofing Ltd. were working at residential construction project in Mount Forest, installing shingles on a single-storey home.

To get to the roof, a worker climbed a ladder placed on frozen, uneven ground that was not secured at the top or bottom. The worker was not wearing fall protection and no fall protection system was installed at the time of the incident.

While the worker was stepping from the ladder onto the roof, the ladder twisted. The worker fell approximately 11 feet to the ground and was critically injured.

A Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development investigation found that required fall protection measures were not in place.

The company, as an employer, and Adam Reilly, as its director, failed to ensure prescribed measures for fall protection were carried out, contrary to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ontario Regulation 213/91.

Following guilty pleas in the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph on June 3, 2026, Reilly’s Roofing Ltd. was fined $130,000 and Adam Reilly was fined $15,000 by Justice of the Peace Royak.
